SUMMARY:Ten Years of The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society
DESCRIPTION:Doors open for Dinner and Cocktail Service at 4:00 PM for VIP Add-On Ticket Holders. Doors open for Regular Ticket Holders at 6:00 PM.\n\n\nJoin The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society as we celebrate ten years of mystery\, suspense\, and old-time radio with an evening of live events marking the Society’s tenth anniversary. It’s an “entertaining and creepy homage to an era gone by” (Cherry and Spoon)\, brought to life by veteran Twin Cities performers Shanan Custer\, Joshua English Scrimshaw\, Tim Uren\, and Eric Webster\, “using their voices to paint a picture so vivid that if you close your eyes\, you can see the action in your mind’s eye” (Stages of Minnesota). \n4:00 PM – Meet and Greet (with the purchase of the VIP Add-On) A casual opportunity to mingle with the hosts of The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society. Join Eric\, Tim\, Joshua\, and Shanan for conversation\, memories\, and celebration with fellow fans of mysterious old-time radio. \n5:00 PM – “The Best and Worst of Ten Years” (with the purchase of the VIP Add-On) (Live Podcast Recording) A special live recording looking back on a decade of the podcast. Featuring stories from the Society’s history\, special guests\, and the presentation of awards recognizing the best and worst old-time radio programs discussed during the show’s ten-year run. \n7:00 PM – Live Old-Time Radio Performance The Society presents an evening inspired by Minnesota native Alonzo Deen Cole’s groundbreaking horror radio series The Witch’s Tale! Created in the 1930’s\, the show blended Cole’s imagination and chaotic production style to create iconic stories that have endured for nearly a century. Old Nancy\, the iconic host of The Witch’s Tale\, provided inspiration for the countless horror hosts that would follow.  \nThe evening features a recreation of a vintage episode of The Witch’s Tale\, performed in the style of an old-time radio broadcast with live sound effects\, music\, and period atmosphere. Paired with the historic script is “Alonzo and the Witch” an original radio play by Tim Uren\, imagining the backstage “dramedy” surrounding a Witch’s Tale production as cast and crew scramble to survive the loss of a core cast member and the unpredictable genius of Alonzo Deen Cole as they bring one of his eerie tales to life.  \nThe Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society performed their first staged old-time radio recreation in 2016 at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis. Since then\, they have appeared at the Minnesota Fringe Festival\, Daleko Arts in New Prague\, the Wabasha Street Caves in Saint Paul\, and The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson\, Wisconsin. Their recreations were also featured monthly from 2017 to 2019 at the James J. Hill Center and from 2020 to 2022 at Park Square Theater in Saint Paul. Currently\, the MORLS can be seen regularly at Crooners Supper Club in Minneapolis. \nThe Society’s live performances are inspired by the podcast of the same name. The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Podcast revisits the great crime\, horror and suspense programs from the golden age of radio\, including tales from Suspense\, Lights Out\, Quiet Please\, The Shadow\, and more. Each episode features a classic or maybe-not-so classic story from the mysterious old-time radio vault\, complete with historical notes and trivia. At the end of each podcast\, your hosts\, Tim\, Joshua and Eric discuss the merits of the story and decide whether or not it stands the test of time. \n“An artisanal\, old-school way of making entertainment… The fun is in watching these fine actors work almost exclusively with their voices … and to see them create a sepia-toned world with handmade sound effects.” – Pioneer Press\nwww.ghoulishdelights.com

SUMMARY:Caribbean Nights with Charanga Tropical
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 6:15 PM for Dinner and Drink service.\n\n\nSalsa with Strings!\nTake a musical journey with Charanga Tropical and its repertoire of romantic boleros\, modern salsa\, and Cuban classics. The ten band members perform as a ‘charanga\,’ one of the few in the United States\, with an instrumentation that dates back to the roots of Cuban music. The sound combines violins\, flute\, vocals\, and full Latin rhythm section. The beautiful blend of smooth strings and Caribbean beats inspires visions of Old Havana at sunset. \nDamian Rodriquez: Vocals \nFrank Rivery: Vocals \nDoug Little: Flute \nAja Majkrzak: Violin \nAna Frómeta: Violin \nKristi Petraborg: Viola \nMariano Flores: Timbales \nAndrew Gillespie: Congas \nJoe Strachan: Piano \nGraydon Peterson: Bass \nFounded in 2006 by flutist and bandleader Doug Little\, Charanga Tropical brings together Cuban and American musicians whose collective accomplishments include international tours\, multiple CDs\, major grant awards\, Latin Grammy nominations\, and more. Charanga Tropical has appeared at major festivals and venues throughout the Midwest. In 2019 the band backed up Grammy-winning Cuban singer Mayito Rivera. In 2015 Charanga Tropical became the only American group ever to perform at Havana’s International Danzón Festival. While on tour they played on national Cuban radio and at venues in and around Havana. Charanga also recorded in the same historic Havana studio that produced Buena Vista Social Club. The resulting CD ‘In Cuba’ captures the magic of that legendary studio space and landmark tour. \n“On a hot summer day no one else can make downtown Minneapolis feel so much like South Beach\, Miami.” –Star Tribune\nCharangaTropical.com

SUMMARY:Ryan Picone Quartet- Django in Paris
DESCRIPTION:Doors will open at 4:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nDjango Reinhardt\, Paris\, Manouche\nThis show features original compositions influenced by Django Reinhardt’s compositions and performances in Paris. \nRyan Picone: Lead GuitarJose Betanzos: Rhythm GuitarPatrick Harison: AccordionMatt Blake: Upright Bass \nThe Ryan Picone Quartet stands at the crossroads of tradition and imagination — where the timeless swing of Django Reinhardt meets the colors and rhythms of the world. Guided by his mentor Stéphane Wrembel\, guitarist and composer Ryan Picone weaves a sound that is at once rooted and restless\, drawing from Rumba Flamenca\, Choro\, Cuban\, Indian Classical\, Post-Minimalist\, and Classical traditions. In 2025\, the Quartet not only celebrated its expanding vision by featuring the world-renowned Sinti guitarist Paulus Schafer\, but also on July 25\, 2025 brought together 14 Twin Cities musicians for the first Twin Cities Djangofest in over twenty years. Now\, as they record their second album—set for release in Fall 2026—the ensemble continues to blur boundaries between jazz and world music\, crafting a sound that feels both timeless and entirely new. \nReview by author\, Michael Dregni. “Swinging\, sensual\, moody\, rousing — Ryan Picone Quartet’s music follows the trail of Django Reinhardt’s Gypsy jazz. Listening to these tracks\, you can almost smell the campfire smoke and see the nighttime lights of Paris burning on the horizon. Bon voyage!”\nwww.ryanpicone.com

SUMMARY:We the People...Singing & Speaking Truth
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 5:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\n“We the People Singing & Speaking Truth” is a concert event that will include spoken word from sources\, documents and people such as: Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, Amanda Gorman\, Maya Angelou\, Hannah Arendt\, Timothy Snyder\, The Constitution\, The Declaration of Independence and others. SUMMARY:Groovy and Ethereal with the Neighborhood Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Doors will open at 4:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nAn Evening of Evocative Instrumental Music\nSticky melodies layered over funky grooves\, with clever arrangements\, tasty solos\, and plenty of vibraphone! \nSteve Roehm: Vibraphone \nDan Schwartz: Guitar\, Vocals \nNick Salisbury: Bass \nGreg Schutte: Drums \nIf you spend some time with the quartet’s music\, you won’t be surprised to learn its members are in-demand players around and beyond the Twin Cities. Roehm’s vibes are essential to the imaginatively interpretative trio the New Standards\, fronted by Chan Poling (the Suburbs) and John Munson (Semisonic). As a supporting musician\, Schwartz has played with many singer-songwriters and acoustic acts\, including Dan Navarro and Peter Mayer. Drummer Greg Schutte\, in addition to being among the finest jazz drummers in the Twin Cities\, has played and toured with Mickey Hart\, Chastity Brown\, and Ryan Bingham\, a gig he shares with NHQT bassist Nick Salisbury. Schutte is also a sound designer and runs a recording studio\, Boom Island Recording\, where he ably produced the Neighborhood Quartet’s album. The big-eared and agile Salisbury\, despite stiff internal competition\, must be the group’s most scheduled player; in 2023\, he played 353 gigs\, and is a particular favorite with songwriters and Americana acts such as Brian Fallon\, Sarah Morris\, Jack Klatt\, and the Dollys. \n“Add the debut LP by the band of seasoned Twin Cities jazz and rock sidemen to your list of cool instrumental to groove to while getting work done\, à la Khrungbin or Hermanos Gutiérrez. Vibraphonist Steve Roehm of The New Standards leads the be-bopping alongside Dan Schwartz’s neo-twangy and sometimes surfy guitar through 10 original tracks you wish were 50 instead; not just so you could get more work done.” – Chris Riemenschneider – Minnesota Star Tribune\ntheneighborhoodquartet.com

SUMMARY:Chuck Mangione Tribute featuring the Steve Kenny Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Doors will open at 5:30 PM for Dinner and Drink Service.\n\n\nA Classic Jazz Quintet interprets the music of Chuck Mangione\nJazz trumpeter Steve Kenny and The Steve Kenny Quintet present a powerful celebration of the music and legacy of Chuck Mangione in a special tribute honoring the recently departed jazz icon. Far more than a nostalgia show\, this performance reimagines Mangione’s beloved catalog through the lens of fearless modern jazz improvisation and deep musical storytelling. From soaring melodies and cinematic grooves to the infectious spirit that made his music resonate across generations\, the quintet will reveal why these compositions deserve a lasting place in the jazz canon alongside the great standards. Audiences will hear fresh\, adventurous interpretations of Mangione classics — music that stretches far beyond the familiar radio hits into richly layered\, emotionally charged\, and creatively expansive territory. Expect vibrant interplay\, inspired solos\, unexpected turns\, and the unmistakable joy and humanity that made Chuck Mangione’s music timeless. This is both a heartfelt tribute and a bold artistic exploration — honoring the spirit of a jazz legend while bringing his music thrillingly alive for today’s listeners. \nSteve Kenny: TrumpetDave Brattain: SaxophonesBryan Nichols: KeyboardsDan Carpel: BassMiguel Hurtado: Drums \nJazz trumpeter\, composer\, and curator Steve Kenny has long been one of the driving creative forces in the Minnesota jazz community. A fearless improviser and visionary bandleader\, Kenny is known for performances that balance deep respect for the jazz tradition with adventurous\, modern artistic exploration. He is a founding member of acclaimed ensembles including the illicit sextet\, Group 47\, and What Would Monk Do?\, while also leading his own celebrated quartets and quintets featuring many of the Twin Cities’ most sought-after jazz musicians. \nBeyond the bandstand\, Kenny has played a major role in shaping the regional jazz scene as curator of weekly Saturday jazz series at both kj’s hideaway and the historic Black Dog Cafe\, producing more than 400 live Saturday night jazz performances and helping cultivate one of the Midwest’s most vibrant jazz communities. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to the music\, the Jazz Journalists Association named him a “Minnesota Jazz Hero” in 2019. \nAs a recording artist\, Kenny continues to push creative boundaries. His 2020 release Quartets on Shifting Paradigm Records showcased original compositions performed by four distinct ensembles of Twin Cities improvisers. In 2025\, he followed with the acclaimed Blue Chunks\, celebrated with a release performance at Dakota Jazz Club. The project explored Kenny’s innovative concept of assembling smaller musical “chunks” into larger suite-like forms\, further cementing his reputation as a composer unafraid to challenge convention while remaining deeply rooted in the language of jazz. \nThe ensemble assembled for this special tribute to Chuck Mangione draws from the same elite core of first-call musicians Kenny has featured in multiple sold-out performances dedicated to the music of John Coltrane as well as concerts centered on Kenny’s own original works. That shared musical history gives this performance extraordinary depth\, chemistry\, and artistic trust.Rather than simply recreating familiar radio hits\, this concert reimagines Mangione’s beloved music through the lens of serious small-group jazz artistry — alive with daring improvisation\, emotional nuance\, and expansive musical conversation. The result promises to be both a heartfelt celebration of Mangione’s legacy and a thrilling exploration of how his compositions stand alongside the great modern jazz standards: timeless\, sophisticated\, joyful\, and endlessly open to reinvention.
