Mom & Me: A Little Bit Silly, A Whole Lotta Love
May 9 | 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This Mother’s Day, celebrate with a one-of-a-kind evening of music, heart, and joy. Join Aja and Asa, a dynamic mother–son duo, for a fun experience that blends jazz standards, musical theatre, soul, funk, a little educaton and playful favorites from Blue’s Clues Big Musical Movie. From swinging classics like “L-O-V-E” to heartfelt ballads like “Rise Up,” from Stevie Wonder sunshine grooves to sweet mother–son harmonies, this show is filled with warmth, humor, and genuine connection. Featuring crowd-pleasing favorites by Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, and more, the evening moves effortlessly between silly and sentimental — with room for jazz solos, storytelling, and a few surprises. Whether you’re celebrating a mom, remembering one, or simply love great live music, this joyful Mother’s Day concert will leave you smiling — and maybe even singing along. Come laugh. Come listen. Come celebrate love.

A lover of all things entertainment, and spreading love and joy, Aja Parham uses her music to do just that but year round! Finding herself singing mostly R&B and Funk because of her musician parents’ influence, Gospel in her church choir, and Jazz after starting in high school and studying jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Aja throws a bit of all her musical influences into each of her performances and guarantees a good time everytime. After graduating from the U of MN with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, Aja went on to perform with the Minnesota Opera, Skylark Opera, Penumbra Theatre and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. After a time, Aja rekindled her love of Jazz, R&B, Funk and Motown, and started performing as a freelance vocalist throughout the Twin Cities. A 2024 Ordway Center Greenroom Fellow, currently, you can find her performing in a variety of venues such as the Capri Theatre, Umbra, Dakota Jazz Club, Minnesota Music Cafe, Aster House Minneapolis, and The Brownstone Jazz Club, as well as singing with many well-known local and national artists like Brass Solidarity, Bebe Zahara Benet, Johnnie Brown and the Brownstone band, Kashimana Ahua, the Capri Big Band, and in her own Sarah Vaughan Tribute Shows throughout the year. In addition to being an entertainer, she is also a mom to a 10 year old that also sings and does performances with her.
Asa Parham, only 10 years old, has been immersed in music since birth! It’s only natural that he would want to perform and loves the stage! Since the age of 8, Asa has performed with the The Capri Big Band, and does Jazz with his mom. In addition to singing, Asa plays the piano at Walker West Music Academy, is a Schubert Club Musical Promise Scholarship recipient and loves to do Karaoke whenever he can! Asa has a bright future in music so keep an eye out for him!
