Acoustic Jazz Versions of Motown Favorites
Swinging Motown celebrates Black History Month performing songs from the immortal Motown Records that highlight the African American experience. Some of the renowned artists highlighted include Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder. The songs are performed with a unique acoustic jazz flavor, which audiences have found to be very enjoyable and engaging.
Chreese and Geoff Jones: Vocals
Nathan Norman: Drums
Nancy Bierma: Piano
Jim Bierma: Bass
Geoff and Chreese Jones are vocalists for the Grammy Award Winning Sounds of Blackness and have worked with singers such as Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, and Elton John. Nancy and Jim Bierma have performed with countless ensembles for over 40 years and are in the Iowa Jazz Hall of Fame. Nathan Norman is from Washington D.C., has traveled the country with jazz groups, and is one of the most requested drummers in the Twin Cities.
