A suite of music written in the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area

The Jack Schabert Trio performs “Listening Point”, a suite of music based on Sigurd F. Olson’s 1958 book, Listening Point. Composed by Jack Schabert during his time as Artist-in-Residence at the Sigurd Olson home in Ely, MN.

Jack Schabert is a drummer/composer/educator from the Twin Cities, now living in Denver Colorado. He has recently won awards in composition from Ithaca College, the New York Youth Symphonies, and the University of Denver.

Tyler Lustek is a pianist from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where he teaches jazz studies at UW-Eau Claire. He is now teaching at the MacPhail Center for Music as well, and is living in the Twin Cities. He recently released his debut album with his group, the Tyler Lustek Confluence, entitled “Shmehara”.

Chris Bates is a bassist of formidable talent. Having worked professionally for 25 years across all spectrums of the musical landscape he continues to be a driving force in the Minnesota music scene.
