Midnight Love, a date night favorite, features a classic tenor sax and trombone frontline accompanied by vintage keyboard sounds in a funky rare-groove setting with a romantic bent. Their instrumental sets feature hits and b-sides of The Crusaders, Burt Bacharach, Ruby & The Romantics, Roberta Flack, Lou Donaldson and The Stylistics among other twentieth century artists. Referred to as “soulful magic music”, “a total groove” and “absolutely fantastic” by audience members, this band has been repeatedly welcomed on to stages all over the region and combines some of the area’s most in-demand musicians from adjacent spheres. The line up led by Peter Vircks (Moveable Feast, River, Yohannes Tona Band, Rhythmic Circus) is trombonist Matt Darling (Hookers and Blow, New Standards, Honeydogs), percussionist Daryl Boudreaux (The Steeles, Sounds Of Blackness, Bruce A. Henry Band, Prince), drummer Greg Schutte (Mickey Hart Band, Ryan Bingham, Chastity Brown Band), bassist Patrick Nelson (Root City Band, Rhythmic Circus, Eric Hutchinson, New Primitives), and pianist/organist Brian Ziemniak (BZ3 Organ Trio, River, Dr. Mambo’s Combo, F-Deluxe, LP Music, Yohannes Tona Band).
