Pavia Wind Quintet: Jazz-Inspired Chamber Music

Join the Pavia Wind Quintet for an exciting concert of chamber music inspiried by Jazz legends like Bessie Smith and John Coltrane and genres like New Orleans jazz, Bossa Nova and Afro-Cuban Rhumba. This unique program will combine jazz rhythms and harmonies with classical music. They’ll be performing Mississippi Five by Jim Parker, Changes of Phase by Kenji Bunch, Jazz Suite for Woodwind Quintet by Mike Mower, La Nouvelle Orleans by Lalo Schifrin and Afro-Cuban Concerto by Valerie Coleman.

The Pavia Wind Quintet is a professional chamber music ensemble based in the Twin Cities. Formed in 2005 with alumni from the University of Minnesota and St. Olaf College, they specialize in exploring a diverse variety of repertoire for wind soloists, with a strong emphasis on contemporary and locally written works.
