Born in 1926, Ray Brown is known as the most influential Jazz bassist of all time. His work spans 1000’s of recordings, notably playing with Oscar Peterson, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and co-founded the modern jazz quartet. Join Callum Schultz, Harry Scott, and Kevin Washington in honoring Ray Brown’s swinging legacy.

Callum Schultz is a 18 year old bassist who has performed alongside saxophone greats Joe Lovano, Kenni Holmen, and JD Allen, and has played at numerous Twin Cities venues such as The Dakota, the Landmark Center, the Governor’s Residence, The Green Room, and Berlin Jazz Club. He is a 2025/26 MN All State musician, and a 2025/26 YoungArts jazz bass award winner.

Harry Scott is a pianist and composer based in Chicago and the Twin Cities. Just 19, he has performed with his Trio, Quintet, and solo across countless venues in the areas, including The Dakota, Twin Cities Jazz Fest, and Berlin. He studies with Twin Cities Pianist Bryan Nichols, and is influenced by pianists Sullivan Fortner, Brad Mehldau, and Bill Evans, and composers such as Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, and Monk. Scott Has won awards such as being named the Minnesota All-State Jazz pianist 2024, the Mayo Louis Armstrong Jazz award, and has performed with jazz Great Wycliffe Gordon.

One of the Twin Cities’ most versatile musicians, drummer Kevin Washington makes jazz for the future. He often incorporates other genres, from Afro-Latin music to hip-hop and R&B beats. The son of saxophonist Donald Washington and singer Faye Washington, Kevin grew up in Detroit immersed in learning music and listening to the jazz greats who came before him. Since moving to the Twin Cities in his teens, he continues to capture the spirit of African and African American music while making it his own. Kevin is a drumming instructor at Walker West Music Academy and works with the student jazz ensembles.
