Creator, host Sue Scott is a veteran actor, who for 24 years was the female cast member on the public radio show A Prairie Home Companion. Since 2019, Sue has been thoroughly immersed in producing Island of Discarded Women live show & podcast. Special guests The Politics Chicks are Christy Branham and Monica Healy, two Minnesota moms who care about politics and people. In 2025, alarmed by the corruption, the trampling of the Constitution, the hollowing out of our federal agencies and the assault on our global alliances, they started a Substack to speak up and shine a light on the news of the day, with activism tips and human interest stories with hope sprinkled in. That Substack, full of powerfully written pieces, has expanded to include a popular podcast with their prolific social media posts and their world-wide following growing daily. Musical guest Jillian Rae, is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s genre-transcending music is powering a new wave in the midwest. A classically trained violinist, who cares more about making authentic music than fitting into a tidy box, Jillian has become a commanding international presence, leading her own critically acclaimed rock/pop band and performing regularly with her traditional folk band Corpse Reviver. She has also toured extensively, backing up Grammy-winning acts like The Okee Dokee Brothers.
