The Sounds Of New Orleans with Southside Aces
Jan 22, 2026 | 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Classic New Orleans Jazz!
For over two decades Southside Aces have been playing the repertoire of the Jazz Age greats and beyond. From the early New Orleans of Jelly Roll Morton to the Chicago joys of Louis Armstrong. The evocative compositions of the young Duke Ellington to the barrel house sounds of Preservation Hall and the early rock and roll of Fats Domino. Their belief in the contemporary vitality of New Orleans music led to the 2022 release of their 8th album, Minneapolis Bump, containing fifteen originals in the style. 2026 will see the release of two more albums. Les Oignons, the band’s spotlight on the music of Sidney Bechet, and The Big Beat, the album you most want to spin at your next New Orleans party. You hear it all when you’re in front of the Aces. Treat yourself to a century’s worth of New Orleans Jazz.

Clarinetist Tony Balluff and sousaphonist Erik Jacobson brought the Southside Aces together in the summer of 2003 with the desire to play the music of the old New Orleans dance halls. They now can look back at over two decades of jazz festivals, swing dances, weddings, concerts, funerals—all the places New Orleans music can go.
“The performers are virtuosi and flawlessly replicate the sound of classic New Orleans…The concert was wonderful and demonstrates the continued vitality of this sort of music.” John Beckmann—Prairie Uprising
