TCJazzFest: Ronny Loew Band

TCJazzFest – June 19-20, 2026.
Free Admission. Reservations are recommended.
When Ronny Loew returned to the Twin Cities in 1997, he set out to recreate the energetic spontaneity he’d lived for during Funk Nights at Boston’s Wally’s Jazz Club—where familiar tunes dissolved into fearless, unrehearsed explorations and the audience rode every twist of the groove. That spirit became the foundation of the Ronny Loew Band, quickly earning a devoted following at clubs, festivals, and events across the region. In 1999, the band helped launch the inaugural Twin Cities Jazz Festival, opening the event and backing guitarist Eric Essix, a Berklee-era friend of Ronny’s. When rain washed out the main stage, an impromptu after-hours jam at The Red Sea was captured live and released as a hit CD.
After a hiatus beginning in 2002 as Ronny focused on family, the band has returned nearly three decades later with renewed fire. Blending original members with fresh talent, the Ronny Loew Band delivers high-energy funk jazz that fuses jazz, funk, soul, R&B, and rock, mixing originals with bold takes on timeless classics. With nods to saxophone legends like David Sanborn, Maceo Parker, Kirk Whalum, Grover Washington Jr., Toto, The Gap Band, and Tower of Power no two shows are ever the same—and that fearless, in-the-moment approach is exactly what keeps audiences coming back.
The Twin Cities Jazz Fest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of bringing communities together to enjoy and appreciate the art form of jazz and inspire new generations of youth. What started as a small one-day event in downtown Minneapolis 27 years ago has grown into one of the largest free civic jazz festivals in the upper Midwest.
